Viventura is Germany's leading tour operator for South America. The operational headquarters is in La Paz, Bolivia, while the headquarters of Ventura TRAVEL is Berlin. Both La Paz and Berlin are home to our Viventura staff. Since our employees are our most valuable asset, we do a lot to make them feel comfortable. For example, we allow our employees to work from other offices. We also travel to a different country once a year to work together on projects and day-to-day issues if company goals are met. Depending on the office, there are regular team events and social days, massages, back classes, and high-quality equipped workstations. Our company language is English. For this reason, all job postings are in English. We are passionate about social, responsible and sustainable tourism. Through different projects and efforts of the partners of this initiative we aim to support local and community based tourism ventures, in order to improve impact on the local economy, the management of natural resources and the well-being of the communities.

Our Purpose: to work together with the local communities to design and offer highly authentic tourism experiences off the beaten track.

To create one booking platform, Fairtrips, where those community initiatives will have one place to market and sell their tourist products, thus contributing to sustainable community self-realization and the creation of additional income.

Fairtrips is managed by the Community and Sustainable Tourism Foundation (CSTF) which is a joint effort by a group of tour operators, community tourist ventures and non-profit organizations working collaboratively in the execution of projects that contribute to the commercialization and improvement of Community Based Tourism (CBT) products.

Giving our communities full control of their tours is an important part of our philosophy, and we kindly ask you to keep this in mind when visiting your hosts. Not we, but the hosts themselves plan their tours. It is them who decide which doors they will open for you and how far off the beaten paths they will take you. This is why every tour will be slightly different, and why we cannot give you any guarantee of the experiences. All our itineraries are approximations of what you will experience. Please also be mindful that our communities oftentimes are in highly remote areas and not used to tourism or foreigners visiting them. Please respect their traditions, culture, and privacy. Most tour operators are unable to offer the possibility to connect to indigenous communities on such as level as we do, let alone to sleep in their homes.

Lastly, please know that thanks to your trip, good things are happening in the destination. Your trip is an investment into the people, their community, and their country. Family fathers can stay with their family in remote areas thanks to income from community-based tourism and no longer have to work in the big city half the year. Animals and nature get protected thanks to the economic benefit of preserving them for travelers. The rights of indigenous people get respected, as they draw the attention of our clients.

While your trip to our communities will have very little impact on the environment, you might still consider compensating/offsetting the CO2 emissions created by your traveling. Keep in mind: Every plane ride, every trip with a bus or a car will emit Carbon Dioxide into our atmosphere. We recommend atmosfair, a German non-profit organization that actively contributes to CO₂ mitigation by promoting, developing, and financing renewable energies in over 15 international Gold Standard projects.

The VSocial Foundation's first commitment already took place during the first Viventura trips in 2001. In 2005, VSocial was officially recognized. The vision of this foundation is to bring positive change in the communities we support by encouraging people to benefit from sustainable tourism. The goal is to strengthen communities, preserve their cultural richness, and accompany them on the path to self-management. Ventura TRAVEL supports the VSocial Foundation every year with more than €120,000. For this, a donation of 25 € is included in the price of each tour of our brands. Our travelers also have the opportunity to visit several projects during their trips to specific destinations.

Designed by the communities themselves, your trip is an intimate experience into the heart of their lives. You will eat, cook, and spend time with people who usually receive little to no tourism. Please be mindful and respectful. Keep your distance where you think you should and try not to be intrusive. The limit to our trip group sizes, just as the general limit of tourists they want to accept, is defined entirely by our communities, as well as the level of accommodation. Please keep in mind that you will not be staying in fancy hotels, but with locals. 

Our local tour guides are trained and deeply care about environmental protection and social commitment. In addition, our local partners, the communities with whom we encourage long-term contracts, are called upon to constantly develop their services in a sustainable, socially, and environmentally friendly manner. Still, if there ever is anything we can improve, do let us know!

How to travel responsibly

Respect for human rights in tourism is a major concern. As an active member of the Round Table on Human Rights in Tourism for many years, we verify that for all our trips, our partners respect the legal provisions in terms of wages and employment, especially for young people. We also support the "Don't look away" campaign, which aims to protect children in their vacation destinations from sexual abuse and exploitation.
