Saraurku is a tour operator that specializes in community-based tourism with custom-planned trips in the canton of Saraguru and all of Ecuador. Saraurku's business culture is based on the "Coexistence" and "Cultural Exchange" between the visitor and host community. That is why we design quality tour packages with the host communities. The goal is to maximize the social, economic and environmental benefits for the communities. The company's emphasis on sustainable management and efficiency contributes to this goal. During this day, we will visit the Gera, Ñamarín and Ilincho indigenous communities that share the same customs, beliefs and traditions but distinguish themselves by unique characteristics. The communities belong to the "Saraguro Rikuy" Community Tourism Network, actively participating in and promoting the development of community tourism.

Achik Wasi Hostal
The Achik Wasi Hostel has the best location in Saraguro. Its name can be translated to The Light House. There, travelers can enjoy rest, surrounded by spectacular views. Achik Wasi has five sizes of rooms. Master bedroom: A small private nook with rustic character where you can enjoy the comfort and intimacy of home. It has a private bathroom with hot water, cable TV and WiFi connection. Twin Room: Ideal for those traveling alone or passing through, and an excellent choice for resting in a familiar-feeling environment. This family accommodation is located in one of the indigenous communities that surrounds Saraguro. There, you will have the opportunity to experience and learn about your host family's way of life, traditions, past and beliefs. You can also expect to have an exquisite culinary experience complete with the fusion of Andean products in a traditional cuisine and, just maybe, learn culinary secrets that you can keep with you after your stay. Pinzhi (Typical Saraguro's dish), à la carte dishes, lunches and tasting dinners with local products, guinea pig with potatoes in pumpkin seed sauce, hominy with tender fava beans and fresh cheese wrapped in a canna leaf, chicken stew, "gualo" patties (corn, milk, cheese, raw sugar), "humitas" (fresh ground corn dough mixed with cheese, butter, eggs, wrapped in a corn husk and steamed) "tamales" (white corn dough mixed with onions, eggs, chicken, raisins, wrapped in a canna leave and steamed), etc. Beverages: "Horchata" (blend of herbs), wajango (traditional ancestral drink made from agave nectar), chicha (made from corn or cassava), chicha de jora (made from corn liquor or malted corn), colada drink (made from corn flour and milk), andean fruit juices, colada drink from agave nectar, etc.
